Add Domain

Bolt.new custom domain on Namecheap: Bolt Hosting or Netlify?

Short answer. Add the hostname at the service that publishes the site, then copy that project's records into the active DNS zone. Buying another name does not fix a verification error.

Convert your host's record to Namecheap fields

Use the records your host supplies. This formatter removes the DNS zone from a full owner name and preserves your value. Paste public DNS values only.

Use the right publishing route

First check where the project is published. Bolt has its own hosting; a Bolt project is not automatically a Netlify site. For Bolt Hosting, open Project settings → Domains & Hosting → Connect a domain you own, enter the hostname and keep its DNS instructions open.

The current Bolt route uses a CNAME for www and ALIAS/ANAME/flattening for the root; an external subdomain can also require an ownership TXT. Copy the actual targets and token from your project. On Namecheap, an apex owner uses @ and a full www.example.com owner becomes www. Add the domain in Bolt before checking its connection status and HTTPS.

If the project is actually deployed to Netlify, use the Netlify route and that site's domain settings instead. Its record targets and primary-domain configuration belong to Netlify. Keep the current working deployment URL while diagnosing the custom name.

Checked against the official setup instructions on 27 October 2026. Current instructions in your own project take priority.

Record exists, but the domain still fails?

Check the DNS troubleshooting sequence: active nameservers, exact owner name, duplicated domain suffix, host-required proxy mode, root versus www, then the host's binding and certificate. Keep email and unrelated records.
